This week at BCHMCPD

Welcome back from the Spring vacation! I hope everyone had time to rest and relax with families and friends over the break.
May is right around the corner and with April and May come the BCHMCPS garden. Over the spring break, the Garden Committee and volunteers were busy building new beds for the garden.

This Friday we will celebrate the April All School Community Meeting with the theme, very fitting, of the garden! Please join us at the HYCC at 9:30 for this wonderful celebration of spring. Today you should have received a permission slip for your child/ren to go to the HYCC for the All School Community Meetings for the remainder of this year. Please do not forget to send back the signed permission slip so your child/ren can go to the HYCC for the meeting.

BOKS has started and had a great start to this spring session. Enrollment is full and the fun in the morning is a great way to start the day. Thank you to all the volunteers who make this program a success!

This week we began the all school free breakfasts. Every day our students receive breakfast in the classroom. Fresh fruit, juice, milk and a breakfast food are served every day. What a great way to start the day. Extra food is used for snacks as well. A well fed student is one who is ready to learn!

Next week is national "Screen Free "Week and we are encouraging our students to find alternatives
to using watching tv and using tech devices. To support this, BCHMCPS is  hosting and Arts/Music/Math Night on Thursday night from 6:00-7:30 pm. An informational flyer with specific music performance times was sent home the week before vacation. We look forward to seeing everyone next Thursday night! Please find the flyer attached.

Welcome April!

As we welcome the month of April, after this weekend I am not sure if it is April showers or April snow that brings May flowers.Whichever it is I am certainly looking forward to those May flowers!
Speaking of flowers, the Garden Committee is hard at work to make the school garden the best it can be. If you are interested in helping out, be sure to reach out to the Garden Committee.

A reminder that the week of April 10th  is a short week. We have regularly scheduled days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All Grade 3 students will take the English Language Arts MCAS on these three days, April 10, 11 & 12.
On Thursday April 13th there is a 12:00 dismissal for staff professional development and there is NO school on Friday April 14th. The week after (April 17-21) is April vacation and we return on Monday April 24th. Also, starting April 24th ALL BCHMCPS students will receive free breakfast every day in their classrooms.

Hold on to your hats, it seems that April will fly by!

This year the district rolled out on-line student information and all families were required to submit student information through an on-line process.  In earlier blog posts and emails families were reminded of this important process.
We still have families who have not completed this. If you are one of these families, you received a letter last week. The letter contained all the instructions and information you need to complete this process. Below is the information previously posted:

Please log on to the Barnstable Public School's "Back to School Student Information" website http://www.barnstable.k12.ma.us/bts and update your child's informational records. Updating your child's information is crucial for your child's safety and wellbeing and gives the school accurate information about

  • emergency contacts
  • medical information
  • consent to give over the counter medications such as Tylenol
  • as well as alerting us to any custody or legal issues.

Please follow the link above or below or feel free to come into the school and use the laptop available in the lobby for your use. If you have any questions, please call Erica Aceto, our administrative assistant at (508) 790-6985.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Students will NOT be able to attend any school field trips or receive any over the counter medication if families have not completed this process. Thank you for completing this ASAP.
