Happy May! As we welcome May we also will be welcoming much warmer weather this week! The winter coats, hats and mittens can become a distant memory as shorts and light spring jackets take their place. One of the wonderful PTO events coming up for this May is the Boosterthon Fun Run!

THE BCHMCPS FUN RUN FUNDRAISER IS COMING!

PARENTS! To give your child the best educational experience possible, we’re excited to raise funds to support field trips and the bus costs to go on them! We’re hosting a Fun Run to continue to make that happen. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student will run on the day of the Fun Run on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Our 2-week Fun Run program kicks off on Tuesday, May 5, 2018!

Leading up to the Fun Run, students will learn how to be brave and live with character through a program with an unbelievable character theme, Castle Quest.

Here is how you can HELP BCHMCPS IN 4 STEPS!
1. Register on FUNRUN.COM on Tuesday, May 5, 2018.
2. Connect to sponsors—friends and family who can donate to help our school.

3. This year we have decided to go 100% paid online. As you sign up your pledges, your sponsors will be able to pay for your pledge right on funrun.com. If sponsors do not wish to pay by credit card, they can simply send in cash or check with your student before the Fun Run!
4. Cheer on your child! (Come to the Fun Run on Thursday, May 17, 2018).
Be on the lookout for this Pledge Crown with more details.

Friday of this week we will have the April All School Community Meeting. This meeting is both the Garden Kick-off and a student music concert- what a wonderful way to welcome April.

Also, don’t forget Square One Art orders are due tomorrow! Order your personalized gift today!  This is a great way to put your student’s artwork on a mug, keychain, pillowcase, etc while earning money for our school!!!!

This Week at BCHMCPS

After winter came back with a fury last week, I hope everyone is back with heat power and that we can leave snowstorms behind us this year! Last week was a challenge for many of our families and staff as they struggled with lack of heat, light and cell phones to communicate. This Tuesday we welcome Spring and I hope that Mother Nature recognizes Spring's arrival with warmer weather.

Report cards (originally scheduled to go home Friday) will be sent home tomorrow. Report cards were delayed because of the two no-school days last week with many of our teachers unable to work on them because of the lack of power.

We held our 2018-2019 lottery on Thursday. There are waiting lists in Kindergarten and Grade 1. We are so pleased to welcome many, many siblings to BCHMCPS next year.

This Wednesday there is a PTO meeting at 3:45 in the gym- the PTO and BCHMCPS need your input and participation. We hope to see you on Wednesday.

The Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC) for Barnstable Public Schools holds its monthly meetings in different schools each month. This month BCHMCPS is happy to host the SEPAC meeting here on Thursday at 5:45. All are welcome.

Fun Events at BCHMCPS

What a great two days for fun family involvement at BCHMCPS yesterday and today and we have much more next week!

Last night we had a great turnout for the Spaghetti Dinner! So many families enjoyed the wonderful dinner either in the cafeteria or as take out.

Many thanks to all those who make this night happen- PTO, Grade 3 teachers, parent volunteers and an outstanding kitchen staff! A special thanks to BCHMCPS cafeteria manager Diane Eames and Mrs. Sue Dunn (who works in the HY West cafeteria and is the mother of Reading Specialist Kelly White) for volunteering their evening.

Kitchen volunteers parents parent volunteers Tracy Callahan, Amy Wrightson and Andrea Burnett (Grade 3 parent and BCHMCPS teacher!); cafeteria volunteers Diane Eames and Sue Dunn

Today was the All School Meeting Cluster Celebration. This celebration is the culmination of six weeks of cluster work that would not be possible without the dedication of so many teachers, parents and community volunteers. The HYCC was alive with the sounds of music, dancing, award presentations and videos showcasing the work. Thank to all who made this possible, with a special thank you to Mrs. Panasci  for organizing the event. Enjoy the pictures below of the Celebration.

The fun continues this weekend and into next week starting with the garden cleanup this Sunday March 11th from 11-1. The Garden Committee would like to invite anyone who is interested to please join them as they start to get the garden ready for Spring.

Tuesday morning from 9-9:30 is the March Principal Coffee. This month's coffee will be a review of safety and security protocols at BCHMCPS and the measures that we put in place to support keeping our students and school as safe as possible. This was the topic of October's Coffee and this timely topic is very worth a second discussion.

The 2018-2019 BCHMCPS lottery will take place next Thursday March 15th at 2 pm in the cafeteria. Please remind families and friends who are applying for BCHMCPS that registrations MUST be in by 12 pm on March 15th.

Make sure your calendar is marked for next Thursday March 15th. BCHMCPS is hosting Math/Literacy Night. This fun-filled family night from 6:00-7:15 will include fun activities, give-aways and raffle prizes.

Don't forget!
