New post

October is in full swing and the school garden is still going strong! This morning on the way in, I spied Grade 1 teacher Mrs. Burnett and her son Ben in the garden collecting greens for the Grade 1 caterpillars. While in the garden Ben also picked a great carrot that he told his mom that he woud like to cook for dinner. In the picture below you can see Ben and his mom and, if you look carefully, one of the pumpkins growing in the garden.

Next Wednesday we will be hosting the "Take Your Parent to Lunch" day. Both our lunch program workers and the district's food service department are putting much planning into this lunch event accommodate those  who wish to attend,  Please remember that you must sign up through food services ahead of time to be part of this fun event. In addition to enjoying a school lunch, the garden committee will be setting up a garden "testing table" with samples from the school garden.

The PTO has started drawing names for the October raffle! It is still not too late to buy a ticket, support the PTO and have a chance at winning great prizes every day in October.
Congratulations to this week's winners:
Saturday-Amy Fajardo
Sunday- Greg Stone
Monday-Robert Saben
Tuesday-Ryan Dangelo
Wednesday-Mario Mariani
Thursday- Sheila Kukstis donated back to winner Nate Lutke
Friday-Brain Cobb

The Discovery Imagination (DI) program will be back at BCHMCPS soon! Thank you to Mrs. Gino who has volunteered to run a DI group. We are still looking for any parent volunteers who may want to run an additional group. It would be great to have multiple groups so more students can be part of this great enrichment activity. If you need more information about DI or how to volunteer to run a group, please see the two attachments to this email.

Today's Community Meeting was such an inspiration. This month's meeting focused on how everyone at BCHMCPS contributes to making a difference. The poem read by a student ambassador said it all:

One seed can start a garden
One moment can change a life
One conversation,
Can start a friendship
One step can start a journey
One word can say so much
One smile can brighten a day
One small act of kindness,
Can mean everything to someone
One person can make a difference,
And that person can be YOU!
