Welcome May

We have lots of fun activities planned for May. You will receive the May calendar in your child's backpack today.  In addition, below is a reminder of some of the May happenings.

May 7 & 8- Grade 3 Math MCAS

May 24- All School Community Meeting. Early (12:00 dismissal for staff professional development).

May 27- Memorial Day- No School

May 28- Kindergarten Screening

May  Read-a -thon

Reading Specialist Kelly White and PTO President Erla Beausang are working on a fun-filled two weeks that reinforce the importance of reading with spirit days.  These will be the last two weeks in May. Their hope is that students will be motivated to read each night to participate in the following day's event/theme. More information to come as we get closer to the Readathon dates.

In the meantime, they are also planning for an author visit on May 31st.
Jana Dillon (www.janadillon.com),is a local author who wrote the following books- Lucky Leprechaun, Jeb Scarecrow's Pumpkin Patch, Upsie Downsie Are You Asleep?. She will be visiting our school on Friday, May 31st.  If families would like a book signed, they have to order a book by May 10th so it will be in on time.  These flyers and order forms will go home on Monday.

I am so very pleased to let our BCHMCPS families know that for the second year in a row our school has been recognized on the state level for our participation in the Breakfast in the Classroom program. On May 9th, cafeteria manager Diane Eames, school nurse AnnMarie Melley and I will be at the State House to accept the Healthy Start award. We are so pleased and proud to accept this recognition on behalf of our school.
